The project holder “Prehistory adventure: an experiential walk through the prehistoric heritage” is Donja Voća Municipality, implemented with partners, Zrece Municipality (SLO), Radenci Municipality (SLO), the Faculty of Philosophy of Ljubljana University (SLO), the Turopolje Museum (HR), the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb and the Croatian Tourist Board, as well as the Slovenian tourist organisation.
The project worth €720.289.93 is supported by the European Union and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, Co-operation Programme INTERREG-CE Slovenia-Croatia 2014-2020.
Within the framework of the project, the municipality of Donja Voća will reconstruct the area around the Vindija cave itself, reconstruct the road to the Vindija cave, implement the electrical and internet network in the cave area, as well as create an application of extended reality. The first prehistoric educational field will be arranged, a prehistoric culinary offer will be prepared, and a mobile exhibition of prehistoric adventure will take a tour of the municipalities involved in the project.
In addition to enjoying the nature and sightseeing of the site, visitors will be able to use applications, external info kiosk and interactive smart interpretation boards. With the help of virtual expanded and realistic reality, visitors to the Vindija cave will head into the dimension of prehistory and explore the pre-historic world of the time.
- a part of the content will be available in the form of a mobile application to the interested public and from the home chair. Also, various events will be organised, including prehistoric workshops, treasure hunts, mobile exhibitions, animated film projections, etc. – explains Mayor Jurgec.
The project will present to the public the customs of a Bronze age man, how and what he ate and did, what his habits were, etc. This will bring people closer to this least interpreted historical period since the beginning of human history.
All events and workshops are free and intended for everyone. Approaches to arranged prehistoric points are also suitable for persons with disabilities, young children accompanied by the elderly. The project envisions the inclusion of vulnerable target groups (children with fewer opportunities, young unemployed, socially vulnerable families). It is important to emphasize that materials from this project will be used in education.
