Interactive applications for the Fortitude project
As part of the INTERREG IPA CBC Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2014 – 2020 project Fortitude, new interactive applications for a multimedia totem in the area of the National Shrine of St. Josip in Karlovac have been implemented. The lead partner of the project is the Public Cultural Institution Fortress of Culture Šibenik with partners the City of Karlovac, the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Municipality of Bar and the City of Banja Luka.
The main objective of the project Fortitude is to develop and improve supporting tourism facilities at historic fortresses and to create joint cultural events that will increase tourism attractiveness of the area and preserve the cultural heritage. Through this project, the City of Karlovac gets a number of new facilities in the Old Town of Dubovac, which includes new multimedia solutions for visitors, equipment for events, and thematic tourist trails on the Karlovac fortification heritage.
Background
In order to improve the tourist offer based on heritage in historical fortifications, the City of Karlovac, as part of the Fortitude project, decided to implement interactive applications for an external multimedia totem in the area of the National Shrine of St. Joseph.
Challenge
Deliver a quality, visually impressive, and at the same time cost-effective solution in the form of interactive applications that will be well noticed and accepted by visitors to the shrine.
Our approach
In the creative part of the project, it was necessary to develop visual content and design user interfaces that would best represent the Fortitude project.
Solutions
With the application of our products: PandoPad® Manager, PandoPad® Applications and PandoPad® TOTEM units, all interactive services necessary for informing and presenting the Fortitude project have been realized. The solution is centrally managed and allows administrators to easily update the content at any time.
The idea behind the interactive applications for the Fortitude project is to engage visitors with digital content about historic fortresses: the Old Town Dubovac in Karlovac, the fortress of St. Miheael in Šibenik, the fortress Kastel in Banja Luka, the Old Town Bar in Bar Municipality and the fortress Forte Mare in Herceg Novi.
Visitors will be able to explore and discover the story of historic fortresses and learn all about the project through various albums and brochures and they will also be able to leave their impressions after visiting the site.
Interactive content is created and managed from the PandoPad® Manager system which is easily accessed via a web browser. It allows users to turn on or off the display of individual PandoPad applications, manage all multilingual content, images, photos, videos, display schedule, etc.
Entertainment applications such as PandoPad® Puzzle, PandoPad® Quiz and PandoPad® Memory with various motifs of historic fortresses have been specially designed for the youngest visitors.
In this example, we see the Geolocator app, which instead of offering answers to questions in text form, requires players to answer by tapping the exact position on the geo map. The characteristics of such applications provide the possibility of a different number of questions, the possibility of entering more possible answers, the timer required for answers, the display of results, etc.
In this example, we see the PandoPad® eCard Selfie application through which users can select one of the offered images, insert a photo of their face and send a virtual / digital postcard using the integrated e-mail system.
In this example, we see the PandoPad® Outdoor Way Finder application that offers a location map. Using PandoPad® Manager, users enter 'POIs' (POIs) on Google Maps, which then display more detailed information or the path from where the PandoPad totem is located to the selected point.
